Confused
Our Peter Jay disapeared from the Census records between 1840 and 1850. I found that his will, at least I think it is his will was entred into the county records on Mar 06 1843. However I have also found that Peter Augutus Jay (the son of John Jay)died in February of 1843. Maybe it is his will that was recorded. Or maybe it is just a coincident.

I am trying to locate information on John (Jay) J. Brown and his wife Rachel. He is in the Rock Co. Wisconsin census in 1840. He is also listed as saying he is from Chenago Broome N.Y and maybe in the census there. His daughter left some verible legacies which I am trying to verify. She always said she was related to the Jays and I see John is listed in the census next to Peter Jay. 1830. She was said to be Native American but claimed to not be.I would appreciate any information you might have. Eunice
